TURA KURYAZOV

People's Artist of Uzbekistan. Corresponding member of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan. Born into a family of descendants of the Khiva khans. Graduated from the Tashkent Art School named after P.P. Benkov. The main plot of Kuryazov's works is the ancient architecture of Khiva with its ancient minarets, madrasahs, oriental bazaars, narrow streets and adobe buildings. The work of the young Kuryazov was influenced by his acquaintance with the artist Igor Savitsky, a researcher and educator, the founder of the Karakalpak Art Museum, now famous all over the world. Savitsky attracted a novice artist to participate in the archaeological expeditions of Khorezm, and Kuryazov seriously began studying the history of his people. In addition to painting with ancient architectural monuments, Tura Kuryazov is known in Uzbekistan thanks to the image of the national hero of the 13th century, Jaloliddin Manguberdi, created by him.
